Alaska's Native-Only Island (need permission to enter) ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Far from the Alaskan mainland and close to Russia is Saint Lawrence Island, a remote land inhabited by the Siberian Yupik People. Here they still live off of a whale hunt, reindeer, walrus, and halibut (they have one store too).

The Natives have successfully managed to retain control of their land and keep it restricted from the rest of America and the outside world. Join me as we meet the locals and learn about the Siberian Yupik people who have endured their harsh climate and retained some of their ways of life for thousands of years.

  1. The guy making up stories like the one of the stegosaurus lol. When I was a kid in a small town I used to invent stories about everything too. The stuff we do when we haven't internet or cable television, damn haha.

  2. I'm just curious do the Ukrainians think of the natives? Do the Russians consider the natives within and around near by as you see. Imagine living there without help. Unbelievable. "The majority" comes 1st I forgot.

  3. I really enjoyed watching this video. I liked listening to Sonny. Nick, the VPSO, got me with the whale bone when he said it was from a stegosaurus, lol. He was spot on with his comments about the lower 48 when talking about why he would not want to visit. I hope they are able to bring back the yearly celebration of their cultures with their Siberian Yupik neighbors.
