Dove | Reverse Selfie | Have #TheSelfieTalk

By age 13, 80% of girls distort the way they look online.* Let’s change that.

Social media is a big part of young people’s lives — but retouching apps and the pressure to post the ‘perfect selfie’ are hurting their self-esteem and confidence. Have the selfie talk with a girl you love to reverse the damage and celebrate real beauty. The Dove Self-Esteem Project can show you how.

  1. At 52 I have found the liberation of a true 'don't give a s#*t' attitude. My daughter is 10, how do I get to survive long enough to know better? How do we get this message to every young person on the planet? The pressure really comes from the insecurities of others and social media has amplified that. Thank you for this powerful 60 seconds.

  2. A very important message. Although the captions identifying that there is music, this video is not accessible to anyone with a vison disability. Only once was there a description of what was on the screen (hair swooshing). Adding a video description file would make this message available to more people.

  3. Social media does have alot to answer for. The immense pressure to look good whilst looking at celebrities and influencers must be daunting for so many. Filters should be banned in my opinion, or at least state a filter has been used. I hate trigger warnings but things like this affects so many, even for me at 45 lol great advert Dove xx

  4. Thank you Dove – this is about time – I will teach my daughter that she doesn't need android type faces to dictate beauty and try and keep as far away from Social Media as I humanly can. I've managed it with my teen son I hope I can with my daughter. Its an empty way of wasting your best years. I love this ad – please keep campaigning and helping promote positive image messages. The kid in the video never needed any help to look beautiful she was perfect at the start.

  5. TRADING CRYPTO HAS NOT BEEN GOING WELL WITH ME, I HAVE INVESTED A LOT OF TIMES AND FAILED, I TRADE ON MY OWN BUT EACH TIME I KEEP LOOSING MONEY. I DON'T HAVE GOOD STRATEGIES TOWARDS THE MARKET. PLEASE CAN SOMEONE PUT ME THROUGH ON THE RIGHT PATH.

  6. Back in 1998, The Body Shop ran this ad with a fat Barbie doll and the headline "There are a billion women who don't look like supermodels, and only eight that do, so learn to love your body."
