How to Make Homemade Lemonade Using Real Lemons

Homemade Lemonade
Time to Make It: 15 minutes
Yield: 8 cups lemonade

Ingredients

5 pounds lemons
2 cups water
2 cups sugar

Instructions

1. Cut lemons in half. Juice each lemon through a strainer into a large measuring cup. Keep juicing until you have 2 cups of lemon juice.

2. Pour water into a medium-size saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir in sugar. Continue cooking over heat until sugar is dissolved and liquid looks clear again.

3. Combine sugar solution with lemon juice. This is a lemonade concentrate. When ready to serve, add water to taste.

Note: the lemonade concentrate can be frozen for later use. Just pour it into a gallon-sized ziploc bag and lay flat in the freezer. When ready to serve, thaw, and add water to taste.

  1. I boiled my lemons first for a few minutes to make them very soft. Warming them helps break up the cells before juicing them. (I boiled them because I don't have a microwave and I'm experimenting) If a microwave is used only do it for 30-60 seconds. Then before cutting in half hand roll it on the counter to break up the cells inside of it. They will yield more juice this way. Juice pours out when cutting them in half and while using the juicer tool. I don't have a tool like hers. I used an old timey glass one. I only had 2 lbs of 🍋 = 1-1/4 cups of lemon juice. Water and sugar 1-1/4 cups each. Turned out great but it needs a little bit more sugar.

  2. I've actually made this but used one secret ingredient, well I guess is not secret anymore once I tell u. So I do is squeeze the lemons, add twice as much water as lemon juice, add 3/4 amount of sugar as water, and lastly, add 2-3 tsp of honey. Trust me it tastes amazing 😍
