  1. I don’t know any other mistakes Dutch speakers make when speaking Dutch but I think I know some English ones English people make! 😜😂

It’s NOT “There’s plenty jacket potatoes”! It’s “There ARE plenty of jacket potatoes!” 😝😂

Oh yeah! Plenty of we English think all cans are made of tin! 😝 Well, they think they’re still made of tin!

No they’re not! It’s aluminium or something else!

Same for foil! (Not fencing! What you wrap food in for later!) That TOO is aluminium foil! Not tin foil!

Oh yeah! It’s not “If I was you” it’s “If I WERE you”

  2. dear god they're not mistakes cuz they are native speakers.

languages isnt smt static, it changes over time and varies from place to place.

to convince people that they are speaking a their native language wrong only serves arrogance, a feeling of superiority over others and an inferiority complex to those speakers who dont speak like a dictionairy :/

I dont wanna make u feel bad or shame u for having this view that they are speaking wrong because sadly it's smt very common as this is the way we are taught to think abt language in our schools. I held the same view in fact

a neat video from tom scott on this topic:

  3. It’s interesting as an English speaker that the proper Dutch usage makes more sense right away – they sounds like ‘zij’, ‘dan’ sounds like than and ‘als’ sounds like as – which is much easier to remember because it corresponds more closely to English

  4. Mooie uitleg over foute woorden.

    Maar wat met de uitspraak?

    Feel – ruimej — immejs – meej dan – foornamwoojde;

    'me' als 'mijn',
